Rosendale Theatre film streaming “16 Bars”

Rosendale Theatre
101 Main Street, Rosendale NY

In solidarity with activists marching for racial justice, Rosendale
Theatre will provide streaming of a powerful 2018 music documentary that looks at our
country’s racially flawed prison system – and the forgotten men behind jail and prison
bars, disproportionately African American.
“16 Bars” captures the time when Grammy-winning recording artist and social justice
activist, Todd “Speech” Thomas, from the hip-hop group Arrested Development, came
to a jail in Richmond, Virginia. He invited inmates to collaborate on an album. As the
creative process unfurled, four men were forced to confront their painful memories from
the past, as they struggled to forge a new chapter in their lives.
