Today in La Voz with Mariel Fiori I interviewed the Kingston City School District Superintendent Dr. Paul Padalino on the ever-changing plans to reopen schools in September, while a pandemic for a disease that has no cure or vaccine still lingers. Dr. Padalino spoke of the reopening plans, the impossibility of controlling children from hugging and touching each other; and about the teachers union, which already stated that for the first 10 weeks of class the teachers want virtual classes (and then they will reevaluate). Tomorrow at 6 p.m. there will be a new virtual meeting with parents, teachers and the community to continue the dialogue and see which buildings can physically be opened in September. The superintendent indicated that although the conversation will be in English, there will be subtitles available in Spanish at the bottom of the screen.
