The Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan, a trio of nuclear reactors built on the shores of the Hudson River 35 miles north of Times Square, opened in 1962. This Friday, April 30, the third and final reactor closes. Though it is a historic day, it's not one to be marked as a day of celebration but of recalculation, as politicians, activists and energy producers step forward to watch what comes next. I invited three distinct voices to lay out their expectations on the Green Radio Hour: Paul Gallay, President of Riverkeeper; Courtney Williams, Activist and cancer researcher who grew up in the shadow of Indian Point; and Rhinebeck-based filmmaker Robert Stone, whose film "Pandora's Promise" -- and he -- contends we've got to make room in the future for some kind of nuclear power.
