In this week's episode of Family Time, Family's Executive Director, Michael Berg, Program Director of Adolescent Services and Certified Family Peer Advocate, Tori Barnes, and the Agency's Family Peer Support Case Manager, Julie Jones, discuss the program, Family Peer Support - a network of parents who become certified by Family's Together of New York to become a Family Peer Advocate who also have a child with a mental health diagnosis or behavioral health issues. In this way, youth and/or parents may have a better time relating to the advocate because of shared or similar experiences, challenges, concerns, or fears. The program supports the youth and family by monitoring stability, linking the family to community resources and providing advocacy to access needed services.
