6 Years of Hip Hop 101
Gil Scott-Heron
Gil Scott-Heron is a legend and often considered the Godfather or Rap. His particular style of poetry flowing over music would influence many in those early years of rap music and many artists throughout the decades since. Tonight's show is a deep dive into his discography. Gil Scott-Heron's importance is not limited to his influence on Hip Hop culture, he was a poet, jazz and blues musician, and an activist. We're covering his studio and live albums throughout the 70's as well as the projects that came later in his life and career, and the many hip hop tracks that are influenced by and feature Scott-Heron.
The Alchemist X Oh No
Two producers - The Alchemist and Oh No, who together are Gangrene. This is our second producers show and tonight we are featuring not only two greats but another pair that also on occasion team up and when they do, rap over their beats.
Hip Hop Instrumentals
Rap to Hip Hop is like a square to a rectangle. All Rap is Hip Hop, but not all Hip Hop is Rap. Tonight's show is mostly Hip Hop music but with no rapping. Sit back and listen to a show of Hip Hop Instrumentals.

The Choice Is Yours
Black Sheep released A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing in 1991 and dropped the immensely popular track "The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)" later that year. I it hard to overstate how big this song was. It marked the rise of Black Sheep, a new member of Native Tongues. We got the chance to speak with Clark Slater, director of the film The Choice Is Yours, which follows Dres of Black Sheep and discuss the rise and fall of the group and Dres' making of a new album all with J Dilla beats.

Gopal is Back!!!
It's been a long time...
Original co-host of Hip Hop is back to take the helm and play some of his favorites from the time he was away these past 3 years.
This show is about what Hip Hop was, has been, is and will be. It is about culture. It is about the good, the bad, the ugly and beautiful of that. About the pieces that don’t get played or talked about from the usual channels. But above all it is about Beats and Rhymes.
