Set in the starving years following the Civil War, “Willow’s Secrets” is the story of a baby girl born in the northern hills of Alabama to a young Indian woman whose family is hiding to avoid being relocated to Oklahoma under the Indian Removal Act. The mother dies, and the heartbroken grandmother gives the baby girl to strangers to raise as their own. As Willow grows up, the inquisitive little girl wants to know everything. Yet she finds herself surrounded by secrets. Who can she ask? Who can she tell?
